A place to discover during Carnival (and after, too)

There’s a new, enchanting venue in Venice, in an iconic location which had remained closed for too long. Native Venetians and long-time visitors remember what the old Accademia cinema was (I had the chance to see a movie there, too!). Since its closure in 2002, it had remained in a state of abandonment.

In October 2025, after 2 years of renovation works, Galeries Bartoux opened their Venetian venue, 1200 sqm dedicated to art, created by combining the area of the ancient cinema and the former Scarpa antique store.

For the opening of its new exhibition space in Venice, The Dali Universe has agreed to loan a major selection of its collection of Salvador Dalí’s works to Galeries Bartoux.

From February to May 2026, the first event taking place at the venue is ‘Serenissimersivo’, a new animated film paying tribute to Salvador Dalí and his sculptural work.

Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the world of Salvador Dali through a visual and audio installation: from the monumental rhinoceros to the dazzling Alice in Wonderland, standing five meters tall, these iconic sculptures will bring to life, in the alleys of Venice.

In addition to the screening of the film, it’s surely a pleasure to walk through the gallery itself, which also has, within the venue, a lovely café and an inner garden. As an adoptive Venetian, I do appreciate when an abandoned place is brought back to a new life.

The animated film runs from 11 am to 6:30 pm and the ticket costs 16,00€.
