Open museums in Venice in February: dates, venues, prices

It's now Carnival time in Venice and even if this year the usual events are not taking place, the good news are that nearly all of the museums in Venice are opening to the public, but each one with different opening time, fees and booking methods. We at Luxrest Venice browsed all of the main museums' sites and we're listing here for you the relevant information, to help you plan your stay in Venice and visit:

Gallerie dell'Accademia are open from the 8th of February, on Mondays from 8:15 am to 2 pm, from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 8:15 am to 7:15 pm. Take the chance to admire the beautiful Sacra Conversazione con i santi Caterina e Tommaso by Lorenzo Lotto, on until the 21st February! Pre-booking is not necessary, the entry fee is 12,00€, reduced ticket 2,00€ for youngsters from 18 to 25 years old, free for visitors younger than 18. Check our suggestion for a perfectly located apartment to visit the Accademia!

Among the Civic museums, The Doges Palace and the Correr Museum will open during Carnival: The Doges Palace will be open on the 11th and 12th February from 11 am to 8 pm (take the chance to visit it by night, an absolutely amazing experience!), the Correr Museum on the same dates, from 12 to 6 pm. Booking is mandatory and the entry fee, which allows you to visit both venues, is 26,00€, reduced to 13,00€ for students, elderly visitors, children aged from 6 to 14. Luxrest Venice offers you the best placed apartment to visit the Doges Palace and Correr Museum!

Peggy Guggenheim is also opening its doors again! This unique venue will welcome visitors from the 11th February, each Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 6 pm. Online booking is mandatory, the entry fee is 16,50€ with reductions for elderly visitors, children and students. Enjoy a superb canal view while being a stone's throw from the Peggy Guggenheim venues!

Palazzo Grimani and Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca' d'Oro have opened their venues since the 3rd of February, with the following opening times: each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 7 pm, entry fee for each museum 6,00€ with reductions for youngsters from 18 to 25 years old. You can also buy a ticket for both venues, it costs 14,00€. At Palazzo Grimani, you will have access to the beautiful exhibitions: DOMUS GRIMANI 1594 – 2019 La collezione di sculture classiche a palazzo dopo quattro secoli Forme dell’arte buddhista. Our accommodation's suggestion to stay close to Palazzo Grimani will let you think you're living in an art gallery!

Le stanze del vetro by Fondazione Giorgio Cini, on the appealing San Giorgio Maggiore island, allow visitors to admire the installation Laguna Murano chandelier by Dale Chihuly, from the 2nd February to the 12th March, from 10 am to 6 pm. The chandelier, produced in 1996 in Murano by Dale Chihuly together with the glass masters Lino Tagliapietra and Pino Signoretto, incorporates sculptural elements which evoke the Venice lagoon, such as a crab, a jellyfish, a starfish, an eel, an octopus, a pufferfish, sharks, a mermaid and the god of the sea, Neptune, in addition to the explosion of amber-coloured tendril-like candelabra that make up the entire volume. A charming flat which is conveniently located to hop on actv water-bus #2 from San Zaccaria? Our suggestion is among the best placed apartments in Venice!

Last but not least, already mentioned in our last post, Palazzo Grassi is open for free each Thursday and Friday from the 11th to the 26th February. Booking is not required. Visit Palazzo Grassi while staying in a stylish Venetian home!
