Entry fee in Venice from Spring 2024 - latest news

A topic many of you may already have heard about is the introduction of a future entry fee for visitors willing to access Venice. Rumors have been spreading for quite a long time and several guests contacted us to ask for more information.

It's now official and Venice municipality approved this local tax on the 12th September 2023, to be introduced from Spring 2024.

Besides, what is certain is that all guests who are already subject to tourist tax (for instance, all guests who are staying at holiday apartments like the ones we manage at Luxrest Venice) won't have to pay this entry fee.

The new tax will only be applied on certain high season days (calendar to be provided) and only to daily visitors older than 14 years of age.

Anybody coming to Venice for work, study, health, sport, family reason and of course permanent residents and their family and tourists who are sleeping at a registered hotel, b&b or holiday apartment won't be charged.

More information will follow on a possible booking procedure, meaning that it will be probably required to register their own presence on a web platform, but what is certain is that who already pays the tourist tax, won't pay the entry fee.
